I took a photography class when I was in college. We went on a field trip to Como Park Zoo and Conservatory for one of our assignments. An interesting twist was that besides one or two exceptions, we weren’t allowed to use photographs of the animals or plants for our portfolio. I am thankful that my teacher made us do things like that because it forced us to have a more creative thought process when approaching each shot.
Only a few of these were used for my portfolio but I thought it would be a shame if the remaining good ones went unseen.
A subconscious artistic decision that I made was capturing emotions that I felt within the environment. Unfortunately, majority of the animals were contained in extremely limited spaces and it was difficult to observe.
However, the conservatory portion of the grounds is gorgeous. I will include a separate post on that later.
